“Wait...
...Play
Wait...
...Stay
Too busy playing God
In our house of cards
Too busy laying blame
To even see our shame
Lay down your arms misled
Take up the wings we’ve shed
We can stop playing dead
And play angels instead....”
Sometimes, the art begins with a song. These are not songs we’ve heard anyone else play and sing in this world before. They may exist elsewhere or else when, but...I never learned to play musical instruments or sing to express them. So I paint them.
There is a tale in the Dreaming that says before each of us is born we choose all that will happen to and because of us. We take turns playing God. And then we go to the Throne of Necessity and get the things we need.
Just before coming to this world, we arrive before one of the angels, who crosses our lips with their finger to make all of this a secret, to make us forget. But in the Dreaming, the tale goes thus: We are the angel. We make ourselves forget.
This song I hear in the symphony of my mind is about the Waking. This one is about unforgetting and forgiving.
So much of who and what we are has become ensnared in the shadow stories of this world. But we are all parts of something so much greater, so much more sacred, and infinitely more powerful.
When we create, we find our wings. When we dream, we wake up.
It is time, fellow angels: Remember.
